Happy Friday Volume 3 || February 9

Wow, this week has been one of those odd ones where it feels both super long and extremely quick. With a snow (ice?) day in the middle of the week and a delay on Thursday, it’s been a little different around campus. Overall, though, it’s been a really good week! I hope your week has been outstanding and that your weekend is amazing.

one || this week’s highlights

Like I said in the intro, this week has been really good! I’m not sure why I feel that way, since everything is covered in ice and I absolutely hate ice. Regardless, I’ve been pretty productive and have had some super good moments this week.

One highlight was going to downtown Frederick on Tuesday with my sweet friend Taylor. This was our first time going out together and I had a literal blast. She’s the nicest and we had such a great dinner at my favorite Italian restaurant ever. We walked around the center of downtown, by the waterfront, for a while afterwards and it was just so nice. I’m beyond happy that she and I are getting to be good friends!

In case you haven’t been around on the blog this week, I started my email list! You’ll get notified whenever a new post goes live on the blog, as well as get access to the newsletter when it goes live.

As far as posts go this week, I shared a recap of my weekend getaway with my family on Monday. If nothing else, go look at it just for the value of pictures of my sweet dogs. They love the beach and are so stinking cute!

Wednesday an exciting Valentine’s Day post went up in collaboration with two other lovely bloggers! If you’re in need of any Valentine’s Day celebration ideas (for anyone you love, not just your boyfriend or girlfriend!) go check it out.

three || exciting news

I found out this week possibly the most exciting news ever- I’ve been accepted to volunteer with Camp PALS this summer in Georgetown! I’m beyond grateful, ready, and overjoyed at this opportunity and cannot wait until July. For those who aren’t familiar, Camp PALS is an immersive summer camp that is unique in pairing counselors 1-on-1 with campers who have Down syndrome. If you look at the website or videos from camp, you’ll quickly realize how magical of an organization it is, and is one I cannot wait to dive into.

Lindsay, my younger sister, killed her regionals for indoor track. While I couldn’t be there since I’m at school and the meet was too far away, I was rooting for her all day from afar. I’m so proud to have a sister who works so hard and dedicates herself so fully to whatever she’s doing. Linds, if you read this-love you, miss you, proud of you!

five || the power of naps

Let me tell you: anyone who says napping is lame has never been in college. Everyone I know naps (often) and recently I’ve been experiencing their abilities to completely refresh your day. Even when I don’t have class until 11am, I’ve been waking up early so I can be productive and work on blog stuff, clean my room, and relax in the morning. However, once 3pm hits, I am in desperate need of some energy. I’ve been setting alarms for myself and taking short half-hour long naps, and they are literally revolutionary. Whether you’re in high school, college, or working full time, listen to your body! If you need sleep, it’s okay to take a break. Your work will still be there (and will probably be done better) after you take care of yourself. This helps keep stress at bay and burnout away.

 

six || journaling again

I took a little break from writing in my journal everyday while I got back into the swing of school. I really missed it. I know journaling isn’t for everyone, but you should give it a try. I feel so much more relaxed after jotting down some notes about how I’m feeling, what I did during the day, what I’m grateful for and what I wish I could change. Even better? Looking back on journal pages from some of the happiest moments of my life-big and small. I’m so happy I’ve recently gotten back in my habit of journaling every night. Whatever de-stresses you and lets you reflect, be sure to make time for it.

seven || blog posts I’ve been loving

During the week, I read a lot of blog posts. Through my favorite bloggers and threads on the groups I’m a part of, I discover so many amazing posts. I literally can’t wait each week to round them up here and share them with you. If there’s a blog post you’ve been loving, let me know in the comments section. This post is a little older than this past week, but I’m in love with it! I just found Alexa’s blog and it is literally SO gorgeous. She wrote a post about how to actually be happy and I think it’s so good! (here)

Jasmine shared 3 self-love tips that are actually achievable and simple to incorporate into your everyday life. At the same time, they are so effective and lovely! (here)

I really enjoyed reading Amelie’s life update post, especially since I’ve been reading her blog for a while. I also loved the Instagram features she added at the bottom. (here)

Alexis (whose blog is SO AWESOME) shared a book review of The Wedding Date, and I’m definitely adding it to my reading list! (here)

Katrina, who is studying abroad in England, shared an update and little peek into what her study abroad experience has been like so far (here). I loved the photos she added, and the little details about her struggles-it makes her writing so much more honest than many of the posts scattered along Pinterest.
