Hi friends, and happy Friday! I have had an amazing week and can’t wait to share it with you all. Before we get started, make sure to hop on over to Monday’s post about studying, especially as midterms roll around! We all need a little help making sure our study habits are as effective as possible. I shared 10 tips to make studying easier and to study better. Alright, let’s go ahead and talk about the week. What have you been loving, doing, and reading this week?
One \\ Fun & Adventures
I knew this week was going to be a busy one, but I definitely didn’t anticipate how much spontaneous fun I would have. Monday night, my friends and I had a really random late-night Dunkin’ run for coffee and ice-cream. Moments like that, singing in the car and randomly taking trips big or small, make all the difference and create great memories.
Tuesday, the weather was gorgeous–so warm and sunny! I spent some time doing homework outside in the sunshine, and then my friend Ingrid and I went to relax and sunbathe at Cunningham Falls. It was so nice to be outside, and was much needed. I’ve been missing summer (and sunshine) so it was a great time.
Wednesday the weather was still amazing, so I spent every spare second (and meal) outside. It was so nice. You have no idea what a change in my mood there was! My sister and her boyfriend came up so we could go hiking, but then a huge thunderstorm rolled in, so instead we headed out to dinner.
Wednesday night I also went to a late-night movie with some of my friends. I’m not ashamed to admit we saw The Greatest Showman again (my and Taylor’s third time, whoops). I was so happy-it was honestly an amazing time and I’m so glad we went!
Two \\ Midterms
Aside from this week being ridiculously fun and packed with spontaneous adventures, it was also packed with an absurd amount of work and midterms. I’m really happy with the amount that I studied. To be honest, I have a bad habit of studying way too much, and all of the fun opportunities I said yes to this week made me have a lot more balance.
However, I feel like all of my exams have gone really well so far. I have another today, but then it’s off to spring break (I know, my school’s spring break is crazy early). Yay!
Three \\ What I’ve Been Watching
I’ve been re-watching season 1 of Riverdale for two reasons: 1, because I absolutely love it, and 2, because I still haven’t watched season 2 but want to, and wanted to be super familiar with what’s going on. I haven’t watched much TV this week, but did catch a little bit of the Olympics when I was home and LOVED IT. I got so caught up in it and couldn’t stop watching! Have you been watching the Olympics?
Like I said, I saw The Greatest Showman again. This may be the best movie ever as far as making you feel amazing afterwards.
Four \\ Video of the Week
Alright, so my favorite person on Youtube is Chris from Special Books by Special Kids (SBSK). He interviews people around the world with a variety of disabilities and special needs with a mission to prove that everyone’s life has value and that everyone deserves love, respect, and friendship. Recently, he started a new series called A Day in the Life. He filmed a day in the life of Ruby, a sweet, kind, and clever girl who is one of 12 people in the world living with Stromme Syndrome. I loved this video so much, and while it’s long, I divided it up and watched it over a couple nights before bed. If you watch it, you will learn lots and feel so much more compassion and inspiration. His channel, Instagram, and more are full of shorter videos as well that I promise will melt your heart and help change your lifestyle to have a more positive outlook.
Five \\ Fresh Flowers
Confession: Before this Valentine’s Day, I’d never received flowers. However, my sweet parents had flowers delivered to my dorm room (you may have seen them over on Instagram—I’ll put the photo down below). When I went home this weekend, my sister had a beautiful bouquet in my room for me! It was the nicest surprise. When I have a house of my own, I think I’ll want fresh flowers around often; they really brighten a room and of course smell amazing.
Six \\ Blog Posts I’ve Been Loving
Stephanie shared 10 productivity hacks to get more done during the day, and I think her tips are so helpful, especially if you work from home! (here)
Emma posted a little celebration of her dog’s first birthday and I was dying over how cute the pictures were. If you like puppies or german shepherds, trust me and look at her post. (here)
I loved the realism and authenticity of Andrea’s voice in her post about common misconceptions about freelance writing. While it might not be applicable to everyone, I think it’s a valuable post to read because there are misconceptions about every job, especially in the creative industry! (here)
Jasmine shared the most genuine, heartfelt, relatable post about overcoming her inner critic. I love posts like this because they are so powerful in making us realize that we’re not alone, and that our struggles are possible to overcome! (here)
My favorite website, The Everygirl, does these amazing career profiles of women in a variety of amazing careers. The editorial director for the site, Allyson Fulcher, finally published a career profile on the site and I loved it! She was so open about the changes in her path, and talked not only about her celebrations but her struggles and daily work life. I relate so much to how badly she wanted to write for them—it would be an absolute dream (mostly because of how much I love everything they stand for). (here)
That’s it for today’s post! As always, thank you so much for reading and for your support.
