Gifts that Give Back: Holiday Gift Guide

A big part of my love language centers around giving to others. When I do my holiday shopping, I like to keep in mind certain brands, companies, and items that give back. From donating profits to different charities to helping out in local communities, companies that give back are always worth supporting. It’s a great feeling to support companies that care. Feel good about the gifts you give and the causes they support with these gifts that give back.

Gifts that Give Back

Apparel: Good Clothes for a Good Cause

Love Your Melon

Love Your Melon gives back by supporting childhood cancer research and care. The mission of the brand is to provide every child who has cancer with a hat, and simultaneously support dozens of nonprofit partners. These partners work in research, care, and support of pediatric oncology patients, in the fight to beat childhood cancer. College students across the country partner with the organization and visit children’s hospitals. These students dress up as superheroes and deliver beanies.

I love my LYM pom beanies. They are super cozy and high quality. LYM offers beanies in every color combination and style you could possibly want. The brand also offers adorable apparel and cute home gifts like mugs.

Ivory Ella

Adorable tee-shirts, high quality accessories, and great causes blend with Ivory Ella. Ivory Ella donates a portion of all proceeds to charity Save the Elephants. They’ve donated over $1.6 million to support saving the elephants and developing communities. If you’re shopping for kids this year (or kids-at-heart), they have the cutest elephant plushes on their website as well.

Sand Cloud

This brand carries adorable products including apparel  with a mission: support marine life and ocean preservation. 10% of all profits are donated to marine life partners. Their glass water bottles make a great gift.

Alex and Ani

One of my absolute favorite jewelry brands is Alex and Ani. Their bracelets, rings, and other accessories are high quality, fun, and unique. Even better, they have so many collections of jewelry that partner with different charities and causes, varying from Special Olympics to UNICEF to the ASPCA. No matter what cause you are passionate about, they have a piece of gorgeous jewelry to support the cause. Plus, every year, pieces in their holiday collection support charitable causes as well.

Starfish Project

Starfish Project has a mission to restore hope to exploited women and children. They provide healthcare, counseling, shelter, and education to women and children escaping human trafficking in Asia. They sell beautiful jewelry and have ranges from bracelets to bar necklaces.

When browsing Starfish Project, each product has an explanation of how profits will help women and children in need. You feel good knowing you’re supporting victims of human trafficking, and you’ll receive a quality and beautiful piece of jewelry that makes a perfect gift.

The Giving Keys

Beautiful, hand-engraved keys inspire and provide thousands of jobs to those in need. The Giving Keys provides jewelry products that pay it forward, creating jobs for those transitioning out of homelessness.

Each key is engraved with a message that inspires and gives hope. By creating opportunities, The Giving Keys lets the homeless create their own success and growth independently.

Each Lokai bracelet has two special beads. The black bead contains mud from the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. The white bead contains water from the top of Mount Everest, the highest point on earth. Lokai hopes to inspire people to be humble during successes and have hope when times feel low.

Some of Lokai’s nonprofit partners include Make A Wish, the Humane Society, National Alliance on Mental Health, National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Autism Speaks, and many more.

Beauty & Skincare

Kiehl’s has been well-known for years for beautifully crafted skincare products. This year, they’ve partnered with Feeding America. Three limited-edition gift sets donate meals. The lip balm set keeps lips nourished with cranberry, mint, and original lip balms, and provides 205 meals for Feeding America. A trio of handcreams, including their famous Ultimate Strength hand salve, provides 282 meals. Cult-favorite calendula skincare collection shines in the final limited edition gift set, which provides 408 meals!

Lush’s Charity Pot body moisturizer and lotion, a cocoa-butter based cream with floral scents of ylang ylang and rosewood oil, supports a number of direct-action charitable causes. This lotion leaves your skin velvety, soft, and nourished, and you do a world of good purchasing it by contributing to grassroots organizations. These organizations fight environmental destruction, climate change, and protect wildlife.

Hand-in-Hand Soaps

Hand-in-Hand Soap’s premise is simple: selling high quality, lovely soaps with a buy a bar, give a bar program. They provide soap and clean water to children in developing countries. Millions of children die each year in developing countries due to water issues, but could be prevented with proper hand washing. Hand-in-Hand partners with child advocacy group My Neighbor’s Children.  Their gorgeous bar soaps, body scrubs, and lotions would make lovely self-care gifts, and you can make a huge difference in the lives of children in developing countries.

When you’re doing your holiday shopping this year, consider the impact you can have by shopping gifts that give back. Marrying together quality gifts with heart, care, and consciousness, these companies shift gift giving to something much more important.
