Hi, I’m Kaitlin! I’m so happy you’re here. I’ve wanted to start my own blog, a little corner of the internet where I could share my thoughts, snippets of my life, and the things I really care about, for almost two years now. I got my start in the blogging world as a contributing writer to Career Girl Daily, and wrote for them for almost three years. I’ve worked with brands to create content, and have written guest contributor posts for the baking website Cupcake Project. However, many of my family and friends have told me that with the passion I have for writing, reading, and just about every bit of life, I should have a space to swap stories, share secrets, and create a collective of sorts.
Now, for a little about the girl behind the words. I’m an 18-year-old girl living in Maryland with big dreams that change almost daily. I’ve always been the reader, from days when I was little spent curled up on the window seat in my bedroom with piles of books to curling up in the corner of any party or place with a book in my lap. I love to learn and of course, for the past few years, studying and homework has been my life as I tried to do the best I could in high school in preparation for the next step, college.
I spend as much time as I can doing the things I love: being with my family, doing fun things with my sister and best friend, Lindsay, baking, writing, playing with my two sweet pups, Louie and Macy. If I could be anywhere right now, it would be in an ocean or sitting with my toes in the sand. I’m absolutely addicted to Instagram, and as much as I love photography, I am a little guilty of using my iPhone’s camera more than my very nice DSLR.
My favorite snack is popcorn, and I’m always down to go for ice cream. If you walk into my house when I’m home alone, you’ll probably find me dancing and most likely find me singing. As for the infamous question of “What do you want to be when you grow up?”, I’ll probably sigh. That answer has been sought after meticulously and rigorously by me, and has changed many times. As a kid-lover and someone who is decently smart, I decided the natural course of action was to become a pediatrician. However, after an intense summer of volunteering at Johns Hopkins Hospital, I knew it wasn’t right for me, no matter how long I spent trying to convince myself otherwise. Of course, I went back to square one. The only thing I knew for certain was that I want to work with kids. I decided that teaching would be perfect, until I realized that it wasn’t quite right, either.
Finally, miraculously, through the help of an amazingly caring professor, I learned about the field of occupational therapy. It seems to fit all the boxes for me and so, we’ve landed on my current goal. Will that change? Maybe. Life has a way of turning out pretty unexpectedly. That’s what this blog is named for, after all. Being endlessly curious, seeing the sweet in life, and taking whatever sour lemons life can offer and turning them into lemonade.
